Island Peak Expedition

6,189 metres

The Island Peak Expedition is a 22-day trek and climb from Phaphlu, Solukhumbu Valley to Island Peak along the famous trail that many Everest expeditions have walked. The trek also includes visiting local schools and hospitals along the way.

Island Peak, otherwise known as Imja Tse Peak, stands at 6,189 meters (20,305 ft) above sea level and is located in the picturesque Imja Valley on the Everest region only a few miles from Mt. Everest. It is one of the most highly sought after peaks in the world. Some people class Island peak as a trekking peak. Island peak is a strenuous climb to its summit above 20,000 feet and needs to be treated with respect. Island Peak climbing is an excellent introduction to Himalayan high altitude mountaineering, and can be used as a stepping stone to higher peaks.

Once arriving in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by the Koru Mountains staff and transported to the Tibet Guest Hotel. The Tibet Guest House is located in the heart of the main shopping area where you can purchase equipment and clothing at a very reasonable price. Our guides can assist you with all your shopping needs. There are also great restaurants and bars in the area.

Accommodation throughout the trek will be in locally-owned lodges, known as tea houses. All of the tea houses we stay in are family-owned and supported by Koru Mountains. The typical tea house includes a large dining area where you can relax, socialise and rest. The bedrooms are very basic with two single beds, mattress and pillow. They are able to be locked if required.

All meals are served in the dining room by your guides. All tea houses have a range of meals available that includes some Western-style meals and local healthy and delicious Nepali cuisine. Dahl bhat is the main dish, which is a lentil and vegetable curry with rice. Meals are mostly cooked on an open-fired wood stove.

Most tea houses have solar power and wi-fi available. You can charge your devices for a small cost.
