It’s the end of an era for our founder, Phurenje Sherpa, and the Aoraki Mount Cook community as he moves from living in the national park to a new home in Rolleston, Canterbury.
This wonderful article recounts some of Phurenje’s achievements both in Nepal, where he began his guiding career and summited Everest, and in New Zealand, where he survived 30 hours in a snow cave just below the summit of Aoraki Mount Cook during a deadly storm.
